Nicolas Cage Movies-Best to Worst-From Valley Girl to Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
77Nicolas Cage in 1987's Moonstruck. Hard to believe it has been 25 years since Moonstruck first came out.
When I first started writing hubs on HubPages, one of the first actors I picked(my oldest son's suggestion) was Nicolas Cage. I wrote the first Nicolas Cage hub on 1/28/2011. There have been many updates and remodels of the hub and here in February 2012 the hub is getting another update.
Some hub statistics: This is one of my least popular hubs. To date the hub has only received 616 views or a little less than 2 views per day. Since I wrote the hub, Nicolas Cage has had 4 movies open at the theaters and they all have been very disappointing. Season of the Witch finished as Cage's 42nd best movie, Drive Angry finished as his 39th best movie, Trespass finished as his 49th best movie(or 2nd worst...depending on how you look at things) and last weekend his latest movie Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance landed in 37th place after it's fourth weekend of release. 03/12/2012.
What you will get in this update. I finally have added his Top Ten Box Office table and his Top Ten Critics/Audience table. Many new photos and all of his movies ranked from 1st to 50th.

So what the heck are Movie Scores?
There are all kinds of ways to determine if you want to see or skip a movie. You can depend on your favorite critic. My favorites are Roger Ebert and Leonard Maltin. You might go to Rotten Tomatoes to get the consensus of all the critics. You might watch the viewer ratings at Yahoo Movies and IMDB. You might depend on which movies are doing the best at the box office. You might wait for the end of the year awards. Movie Score takes all of these options and creates a mathematical equation that generates a score from 1 to 100. The higher the score the better the movie.

Too much debt, results...bad movies.
Too much debt, results...bad movies.
Vampire's Kiss is a crazy movie
I can not believe I paid money to see Season of the Witch...it needs to be his last rated movie
Voted up, i love moon struck:) not a fan of Season of the witch.
I am not the biggest Cage fan, way too many bad movies, but I did like Moonstruck, it looks so young in that movie.
Nicolas Cage is one of my favorite actors, though I prefer his earlier work. Wild at Heart was one of the few David Lynch movies I understood. Cage and Dern were awesome.
Face-off was so much fun watching travolta channel cage and cage channel travolta.
I wondered how a taller man and a broader man could trade faces and their body types melded to it. Must be a science thing. I know it's only a movie just shut up and enjoy it.
I understood THAT lynch movie, at least the basics. My son watchs em and claims to know some of whats going on.
To think if it wasn't for Nic Cage Johnny Depp might not be the famous sensational actor that he is today! (See my Depp hub if you are confused)
I missed this hub last year, now its updated its an opportunity to check it out.
50 films? But he does churn them out, 4 or 5 films a year?
It looks like I'm a bit of a closet Cage fan, I've seen 39 of the 50 you've listed! eek.
Not a big Moonstruck fan, I'm more into his action roles, Face Off, Con-Air and The Rock are big faves, good to see them in the top 10. I saw them at the cinema too.
The last Nic Cage film I saw at the cinema was Kick-Ass which I loved and have watched many times on Blu-ray since. Bought the graphic novel too.
I've seen all ten of the box office chart and 8 from the critics chart, I have yet to see Birdy or Red Rock West.
Nic Cage is a very good actor when he wants to be, but he makes so many crappy films. Problem is I end up buying those crappy films while complaining about them. :)
I bought Sorcerer's Apprentice, Drive Angry and Season of the Witch on blu-ray, he shamelessly admitted.
Another winning hub Bruce, I hope it gets more views after this update.
Voted Up, Useful and Interesting.
Cogerson.....While your hubs are always a treat to read...for the first time, I'm gonna have to say, this actor is no treat for me. I may never know what it is about Cage that basically turns me away from his movies. Although I liked ConAir, it had more to do with the story than it did with him....and I loved Moonstruck because of Cher. Crazy maybe, but I like Cher's acting abilities more than her music.
Any movies he's done that I have seen, have not been because he was in them. I guess I've seen 7 or 8....that's it.
Up++++ as always!
I am really hot and cold on Cage. Some of my favorites are Moonstruck, Adaptation, and World Trade Center.
I haven't seen a large number of Cage's films.
Moonstruck is the only box office hit I've seen.
As for critics picks, besides Moonstruck, I have seen Adaption and Matchstick Men.
The top ten movie score titles:
I have seen Moonstruck and Peggy Sue Got Married.
The other films I've not yet mentioned at all that I've seen are, in movie score order:
It Could Happen to You
Gaurding Tess
That is a grand total of 6 movies, although I've lost track of the number of times I've seen Moonstruck and Peggy Sue Got Married.
Raising Arizona is top of my to-see list.
Pretty good list. I'm surprised to see "ghost rider" ranked as high as it did for the box office score card.
Thanks for the info. on Red Rock West. It sounds like I would enjoy it.
Love this Cage tribute, I have seen all 50 of these movies. Cage is the best actor out there.
I do like Nicholas Cage a lot, but as has already been said, he does appear in some truly awful films. My favourite is Raising Arizona, although the National Treasure films were good fun too.
Voted up etc
Nicholas Cage is a good actor, i saw many films of cage. Good hub :)
Word is if it wasn't for Nick we might not have known Johnny Depp. Thank you Nicolas Cage for suggesting your friend Johnny look into acting!!:)
Moonstruck is one of my all-time favorite movies. Sometimes Nic Cage can be so brilliant and sometimes I can't believe how ridiculous his movies are. Face Off? Come on; how did that movie score so highly?! But at least he can laugh at himself. Did you see him on Saturday Night Live recently doing a skit with the guy who impersonates him? Pretty funny stuff.
