Hugh Grant Movies-Best to Worst-With Box Office Results Through Pirates! Band of Misfits.
77Hugh Grant with Julia Roberts in Notting Hill. My personal favorite Hugh Grant movie.
Hub Update: Finally a new Hugh Grant movie is in theaters. The Pirates! Band of Misfits has received very good reviews from audiences and critics. After three weekends Pirates has moved into 11th place of all the Hugh Grant movies out there. Has a chance to make it into the Top Ten in the next few weeks. 05/15/2012.
I, like most of us, first became aware of Hugh Grant in the 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral. This movie sensation became the highest grossing film in England, and won Grant the Golden Globe award for Best Actor. Since the release of Four Weddings and a Funeral, Grant has specialized in romantic comedies.
Some of his co-stars in those romantic comedies include Julianne Moore,Julia Roberts, Andie MacDowell, Renee Zellweger, Drew Barrymore and Sandra Bullock . Since 1987 he has starred in 25 movies, They are ranked from best to worst in the following table. After rumors that he was going to retire from making movies, it now appears that he is back and making movies again.
The following table ranks Hugh Grants movies from best to worst by Movie Score. Also listed are some of the variables used to reach that Movie Score.

The Best of Hugh Grant.
#1 Notting Hill (Movie Score 65.59)....he plays a book store owner who meets and falls in love with Julia Roberts ...a very funny movie...that I can watch over and over
#2 Four Weddings and a Funeral (Movie Score 59.38)...the movie that made Hugh Grant a star....a movie about four weddings and one really sad funeral
#3 Sense and Sensibility (Movie Score 52.58)....Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet and Hugh in this period piece from Ang Lee
#4 Bridget Jones's Diary (Movie Score 51.45)....for the first time he got to play a cad ...not only does he play the role well, he seems to be enjoying himself
#5 Two Weeks Notice (Movie Score 46.40)....romantic comedy with Sandra Bullock as the love interest
My favorite Hugh Grant movie did not make the Top 5. Love Actually finished 7th in the equation.
The trailer of my favorite Hugh Grant movie # 7 Love Actually.
The Worst of Hugh Grant.
5th place: Bitter Moon (Movie Score 24.43)....this Roman Polanski film takes place on a cruise ship, no box office and only fair reviews lands it as the 5th worst movie for Grant
4th place: American Dreamz (Movie Score 22.03)....a spoof of American Idol could only earn 8 million 2011 dollars at the box office
The Bronze: The Liar of the White Worm (Movie Score 20.30)...loosely based on a Bram Stoker novel, this bad film was directed by Ken Russell
Runner Up: An Awfully Big Adventure (Movie Score 17.62)...earned less than a million dollars at the box office
Winner: Did You Hear About the Morgans? (Movie Score 17.61)...released in 2009, the movie earned a 12% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the lowest score in Hugh Grant's career
Hugh Grant's 3rd worst film The Liar of the White Worm. One look at the trailer and you will be convinced it should be ranked last.
So what the heck are Movie Scores?
There are all kinds of ways to determine if you want to see or skip a movie. You can depend on your favorite critic. My favorites are Roger Ebert and Leonard Maltin. You might go to Rotten Tomatoes to get the consensus of all the critics. You might watch the viewer ratings at Yahoo Movies and IMDB. You might depend on which movies are doing the best at the box office. You might wait for the end of the year awards. Movie Score takes all of these options and creates a mathematical equation that generates a score from 1 to 100. The higher the score the better the movie. .

It's "Lair" not "Liar" of the White Worm. Could you correct it when you can? Thanks.
17 down I have only heard of two of those movies....Lair of the White Worm looks like a 80s porn movie
About a Boy is my favorite Grant movie...good list
I have enjoyed watching Notting Hill a few times - good story line and Julia Roberts is good in that movie along with Hugh Grant. Some of Hugh Grants movies are on similiar lines though...
I hope he keeps making movies.
The remains of the day is one of my all time favourite movies.
Notting Hill is a great movie as is Love Actually.
He does play similar roles but he plays them better than nearly every body else.
I love him and a lot of his films. Cheers
I literally LOVE Hugh Grant and his movies. I agree with Notting Hill being on top! Rated up and awesome!
Gotta go with Four Weddings as his best.....classic movie...hard to beleive that was 17 years ago.....good list
I love Hugh Grant....he is the best.....it is sad to read that he might not make any more movies
I love Hugh Grant! I even liked Did You Hear About the Morgans. This is a really fun hub!
Glad to see this page Cogerson. I like rom-coms, and I like actors who play naive, mild-mannered heroes, so as you can imagine Hugh Grant is one of my favourite actors today. Two of his films really appeal to me;
'The Englishman who went up a hill etc etc' (one of the longest titles surely in movie history) is really charming and quaint. As I know Wales very well (the film is set in a little Welsh village post WW1) I can identify with the authentically parochial way of thinking of the locals - so concerned that their local 'mountain' of which they're so proud, should not be diminished by redesignating it as merely a 'hill'. It's well worth a viewing, tho' whether all people in other countries would fully appreciate and understand the lifestyle and attitudes of a little God-fearing Welsh village, I'm not sure?
My favourite Hugh Grant movie, I'm pleased to say, is No 1 on your list. 'Notting Hill' sees Grant at his naive likeable best with a great self-deprecating sense of humour. You can almost believe a multi-millionaire actress could actually fall for this guy who has a wholly different, more relaxed perspective on life to everything she is used to. Julia Roberts is great too in this movie.
Thanks for another good page.
You haven't written a new hub so I feel lost. Ha!
Thought I would stop by this hub as I haven't before. I've seen a lot of Grant films for a person who doesn't watch recent films. It might be because he's British. I am more likely to watch British films than I am American films when it comes to recent movies. Guess it is the genre of films being made in each country.
I have seen 8 of his top 10 movies. The only ones I am missing are numbers 8 and 10. Yes, odd I haven't seen a movie with a reference to music in the title, but not yet.
Overall, I have seen 10 of his films listed. The other two I've seen are
Mickey Blue Eyes and The Englishman who Went Up and Hill and Came Down a mountain.
