Dennis Quaid Movies-Ranked Best to Worst-Thirty-four years of movies.
79My favorite Dennis Quaid 2002's The Rookie...one of his many sports movies.
Earlier today I was listening to the Robert Wuhl sports talk show on the radio. Robert Wuhl of HBO's Arliss fame, was introducing his next guest. He said "In the golf world, people are always talking about the best golfer to never win a major tournament, well my next guest is probably the best actor to never receive an Oscar nomination....Mr. Dennis Quaid."
This got me thinking numerous things. (1) I could do a Dennis Quaid hub on hub pages, and as an added bonus he is still alive and has a pulse. (2) Is Dennis Quaid, in fact, the best actor out there that has not received a nomination? (3) Who are other possibilities for the title of best actor without a nomination.....the list of actors could include Kurt Russell, Bruce Willis, Steve Martin and Gary Oldman for that title. and (4) The answer to that question could make another hub subject in the future.
Dennis Quaid has been starring in movies for the last thirty-four years. His first breakthrough role was in 1979's Breaking Away. In 1980 he appeared with his brother, Randy, in the western The Long Riders. In the 1980s and early 1990s he appeared in three movies with his wife at the time, Meg Ryan. In 2002, Quaid received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in Far From Heaven. In 2004 he starred in his biggest box office hit, The Day After Tomorrow. His most recent hit was 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra.

Dennis Quaid is the 55th actor/actress to receive a Cogerson career review hub page. My Greatest Actors/Actress Table has two separate tables....the first table ranks the 55 actors using all of their movies. Dennis Quaid comes in dead last at #55 on that table. On the second table only looks at the actor's Top Ten Movie Score Movies. On that table Dennis Quaid comes in at #50.....right behind Adam Sandler but ahead of Kurt Russell.
Final conclusion: I think Dennis Quaid is a good actor....but I do not feel he is the best actor without an Oscar nomination.

Yay baby!! A pulse!! I haven't seen a DQ movie yet that I didn't enjoy! Frequency still has me a bit baffled but I still watch it over and over hoping that one day it finally clicks...that's just me. :)
Thank you cogerson for a hub well done!! UP/fan-freakin-tastic!!!
Dennis Quaid is a good actor. I enjoy watching Frequency, The Big Easy and Suspect when they appear on TV and these are some of my favorite movies of his. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY COGERSON... YOU HAVE A VERY INTERESTING HUB...IT IS SO INFORMATIVE...
I really enjoyed Vantage Point and Frequency; and pretty much every other movie I've seen starring DQ. Innerspace was a long time back, but I remember laughing loud. Ahh, reminiscing. Thanks for the memories ;)
I like Dennis Quaid, interesting question about who is the best actor without an nomination. I would include Jim Carrey from his serious movies, or Martin Sheen. As for Quaid, I remember watching Caveman with Ringo Starr all the time on cable back in the 1980s, so stupid it was funny. I see it is ranked 40th kinda low, but I can understand that. Voted up.
Hey come on Cogerson this guys still alive, have we run out of dead actors already? ;)
While I don't rate him as highly as you do Quaid is a good actor, his best film probably GI Joe Rise of something or other, it won all the Oscars last year.
But seriously I liked him as astronaut Gordon Cooper in The Right Stuff which is one of my favourite films of the 80's, fantastic film and a great group of actors.
An underrated favourite is Enemy Mine which is a sort of sci-fi remake of John Boorman's Hell in the Pacific.
And InnerSpace was great fun too, an 80's variation on the sci-fi classic Fantastic Voyage.
I wasn't that impressed with his recent output, Quaid could do with a Jeff Bridges type "revival", if the right film comes along who knows?
Voted Up and Useful.
Rookie and Frequency are a showcase of Quaid's talent.;)
Quaid is very underrated, I was shocked when I saw he has been in movies for 34 years, he was excellent as the dad in Soul Surfer. And Breaking Away is one great movie. I will vote for Willis as the best actor without a nomination, I never understood why he was the only actor left out in Pulp Fiction, his Butch is a classic character. Voted up.
I love Dennis Quaid! I think he's a great actor (cute one too)! Lol
I see I have missed severhim movies movies - thanks I'll check those out:)
Thanks for all the info. Dennis Quaid always strikes me as sort of a "sleeper". He is a good, functional actor, but I never really think his performances are outstanding. Still I like him. Voted up and useful.
I really enjoyed frequency. Maybe you can do a Hub on Randy Quaid, who has apparently gone insane.

I like Dennis Quaid. He remians me of Harrison Ford. His brother Randy is quite good too. Though usally typecast playing idiotic charactors like Cousin Eddie in the Vacation movies.
It doesn't seem like Dennis gets the respect he deserves. I consider him a good actor, not a great actor but good.
