Audrey Hepburn Movies-Best to Worst-With Adjusted Box Office Grosses/Results
78Audrey Hepburn in 1963's Charade....my favorite Hepburn movie.
Audrey Hepburn(1929-1993), an Oscar® winning actress, appeared in 27 movies from 1951 to 1989. While filming a small part in 1951's We Will All Go To Monte Carlo, she was spotted by French novelist Colette. Colette picked Hepburn to play Gigi in the Broadway play Gigi. The success of the play led to Hepburn's first starring role....1953's Roman Holiday. Roman Holiday was a hit and earned her the Oscar® for Best Actress. From 1953 until the rest of her life she was an internationally star.
Although she only made 16 movies during her peak of stardom (1953-1967)....check out some of her legendary leading men....Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday, Humphrey Bogart in Sabrina, Henry Fonda in War and Peace, Gary Cooper in Love in the Afternoon, Fred Astaire in Funny Face, Burt Lancaster in The Unforgiven, James Garner in The Children's Hour, Cary Grant in Charade, William Holden in Paris When It Sizzles, Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady, Peter O' Toole in How To Steal A Million and Albert Finney in Two For The Road. I can only imagine the stories she could share of her experiences behind the scenes with all of these incredible actors.
My personal favorite Audrey Hepburn movies are 1963's Charade and 1966's How To Steal A Million. I have seen 10 of her 26 movies to date. I ashamed that as a movie buff, that I have never seen 1961's Breakfast at Tiffany's*. And even worse, the movie is sitting on my DVD rack just waiting to be watched. The rest of this hub will rank Audrey Hepburn movies by box office grosses, critical reception and by Movie Score.
*Since writing this hub. I have since seen Breakfast at Tiffany's....I would say it was well done, but would not crack my Top 5 of Audrey Hepburn movies.
Audrey Hepburn in her biggest box office hit....1964's My Fair Lady....with inflation still the 54th biggest box office hit of All-Time.

Very nicely done Cogerson, she was my mom and grandmother's favorite actress. Keep up the great hubs.
HI, Cogerson - wow you keep the great movie hubs coming, the ones for the older set or old movie lovers. I love Audrey Hepburn. She was such a class act. Just saw her in "Wait Until Dark." She presented a character who was physically flawed, with a delicate femininity, yet a deep well of inner strength and intelligence. What a wonderful and beautiful actress she was!
Audrey Hepburn? hmmm never been one of my favourites. I didn't much like Elizabeth Taylor either. I don't know what it is, I'm very fussy on classic Hollywood actresses, loved Ingrid Bergman, Deborah Kerr and Katharine Hepburn but not those two.
Anyway Charade is a favourite of mine and I own My Fair Lady on DVD too, though thats mainly because of Rex Harrison.
Never seen The Nun's Story.
Voted Up and sort of Interesting. :)
Btw I voted for Vincent Price... oh wait he wasn't up there tsk tsk Bill Holden than. :)
What a fab tribute to Ms Hepburn! I'm sure she would have been delighted to read this....maybe one of her sons will stop by! :)
I never saw many of her movies, I'm more of a pulse sorta girl...but there are some non-pulses that I admire also. Such as Michael Landon!
I voted for Dustin Hoffman! Bring on the Rainman (feel free to leave Tom Cruise out, not a fan...at all)
Up/Awesome/Tweet!
Charade, Breakfast At Tiffany's and Wait Until Dark are my very good movies...she was a wonderful actress. I have seen many more of her movies but the above are my favorites. Thanks for the HUB - GOOD JOB ONCE AGAIN. HEY, STILL WAITING FOR ELIZABETH TAYLOR...
I love Audrey Hepburn, talk about the defintion of class, she had it all, looks, talent and wanted to help people. I have seen almost all her movies, at least the ones before 1970. My favorites are Breakfast, Steal A Million, My Fair Lady and Charade. Voted way up and interesting.
I did watch Charade, but it confused me so much. I personally love Wait Until Dark. Anyone who can play blind convincingly is a real actor. I echo Delores Monet's sentiments about old Hollywood. It's alot more interesting so I voted for William Holden.
I think I have only seen Breakfast at Tiffany's and My Fair Lady out of all of her movies - but I had a thought that if there were a time machine I would like to see her in a movie with George Clooney - I think they would go very well together!
You haven't seen Breakfast at Tiffany's yet even though you have a copy? oops. Be prepared to be offended by Rooney's role. Since I've seen it, I always press mute when he is on screen as I still love the rest of the film.
I'm a big Audrey Hepburn fan. I haven't seen most of the films I haven't seen because I don't have access to them.
I have seen 8 of her top 10 box office hits. I have seen 9 of her critic's top 10 films. I have seen all ten of her top 10 movie score hits.
Overall, I have seen 14 movies of hers so far. That is over 50% of her films. The lowest on the Movie Score list is #17: Paris When it Sizzles.
The ones of these that are easy to find that I've yet to see are her later films like Always and Robin and Marion made after her retirement from a full time movie making. Green Mansions is one that I've never been interested in seeing.
My top 5 in alphabetical order are:
Charade
My Fair Lady
Roman Holiday
Sabrina (odd being distantly related to an actor playing your love interest while meanwhile being in love with your other leading man)
Wait Until Dark
(Despite Moon River being my favourite Movie ballad, B.A.T. cannot make the list due to Rooney playing a Japanese in stereotyped form)
Here are the movies I have seen in Movie Score Order:
My Fair Lady
The Nun's Story
Roman Holiday
Sabrina
Breakfast at Tiffany's
War and Peace
Wait Until Dark
Funny Face
Love in the afternoon
How to Steal a Million
The Children's Hour
The Unforgiven
Paris When it Sizzles
I voted for Holden as I don't think Poitier will win and and I am partial to the studio era. However, I have seen a lot of films of the other two, so I will have something to say regardless.
Thanks for my latest lesson in movie history. I have always thought she was a very sexy actress. Sadly I have seen very few of her movies, but your rankings gives me a good place to start. Nicely done.
While she's never been one of my top favorites, she was a talented actress. My favorite film of hers was "My Fair Lady" which I think I've seen a dozen times. The thing I remember most about "Breakfast at Tiffanys" was her singing Moon River.
Rob
I wouldn't avoid Green Mansions if it was on TV at a time when I wasn't busy. But I don't plan on looking for a copy while meanwhile I would love to see others of her career.
She is my favorite actress from the past, I loved everything about her. Roman Holiday she played the part of the princess like never before, now all the young actresses try and copy her when ever they play royalty. She was a royal woman.
Hi Cogerson - As I started to read this article I was thinking - hmm I don't know too much about Audrey Hepburn - I am so glad you included the interesting facts at the end. I have seen her in a few of her movies but I was born in 1967 so she was a little before my time. Great hub!
She was beautiful in a unique sort of way and a massive shining star. The Lavender Hill Mob is a famous British small budget comedy that stands the test of time and worth seeing. I've seem Roman Holiday too many times, but they are great together. Yes she was real class and deserving of your magnificent tribute. Cheers buddy.
Cogerson-you may want to revisit the hub where you just commented on a My Fair Lady review. You meant Roman Holiday.
I've seen (and own) Breakfast at Tiffany's, and I enjoy it well enough. But I definitely prefer Wait Until Dark. It's a great movie that just pulls you in and keeps you watching.
Excellent.
What's this I see? No comments by Cogerson on Robwrite's Greatest Movie list hubs? Tsk tsk level 8. I'm slowly going through them. I've read 300-251 and 250-201. Will look at the others tomorrow.
Thank you for publishing this excellent Hub. I enjoyed reading about Audrey Hepburn and her wonderful films. I have seen most of them and they consistently delight. I have not seen "How to Steal a Million." I will rectify that shortly.
...love your hubs on the movies as you know and the true sign of this affection is that I try to send all of the film buffs your way to check you out!
And yes there was only one Audrey but then again there is only one COGERSON!!!

i was wondering if you were going to do audrey hepburn and what to my surprise you have done her. you shuld watch a nun's story. i remember it as a good movie.
i also liked breakfast at tiffany's.
have you ever thought about comparing movie making parents and their movie making offspring? the bridges, the fondas etc.
I was just watching Audrey Hepburn in The Children's Hour. I had forgotten just how beautiful she was and what a wonderful actress she was. I enjoyed this hub very much. Voted up and interesting!
Enjoyed this hub since I'm an Audrey Hepburn fan. I saw her in Green Mansions and it wasn't her best, but I did like the book. I hope you've seen Breakfast at Tiffany's by now. Holly Golightly is quite a character. Wait Until Dark is another favorite of mine, along with Charade which I watched a few weeks ago for the nostalgia.
This was such a fun and interesting hub to read! I love the facts at the end! Many things I did not know about her! This made me want to have an Audrey Hepburn movie marathon! =)
What a great list, and so uniquely organized! I've seen most of these, and have enjoyed all them very much. Charade and My Fair Lady have to be my favorites, but Roman Holiday was so charming and Wait Until Dark was one of the best mysteries of it's day that I've ever seen. Thanks for taking the tie to put all of these numbers together.

Tally the votes I say, tally the votes. I could see her in Father Goose, but not the others she turned down. Again a great Hub.
I am glad I don't have to pick here best role.
Just a suggestion, you might find a (TM) character in the Windows character map.
