Adam Sandler and Adam Sandler in Jack and Jill...despite some horrible reviews(it won 10 Razzies) the movie earned over 74 million.

When I first started writing on HubPages my Adam Sandler hub was an experiment. I was trying to figure out how to get traffic to my hubs. One of the ideas I came up with, was to write a hub on an upcoming movie. My logic was.... be one of the first people to write about the movie and it would be ranked higher on Google searches. I checked the upcoming movie release schedule and saw Adam Sandler's Just Go With It was opening in two weeks. So I got all the box office information from Sandler's previous 23 movies and grouped all of the comedies together. Next I took the average results of his comedies and came up with a fearless prediction for how it would perform. Since Just Go With It, Sandler has had another movie open, Jack and Jill. I did the projections for that movie as well....both projections and actual numbers are located at the bottom of the hub.

The rest of the hub shows Adam Sandler's Top Ten box office results, Adam Sandler's Top Ten movies according to critics and audiences and all 25 Adam Sandler movies ranked from Best to Worst.

So what the heck are Movie Scores?

There are all kinds of ways to determine if you want to see or skip a movie. You can depend on your favorite critic. My favorites are Roger Ebert and Leonard Maltin. You might go to Rotten Tomatoes to get the consensus of all the critics. You might watch the viewer ratings at Yahoo Movies and IMDB. You might depend on which movies are doing the best at the box office. You might wait for the end of the year awards. Movie Score takes all of these options and creates a mathematical equation that generates a score from 1 to 100. The higher the score the better the movie. .

OK Bronco man....I agree predicting critics to dislike an Adam Sandler movie is like shooting fish in a barrell....but there is more to my prediction than that....and just for the record Just Go With It is sitting at 13% on Rotten Tomatoes

Just saw the movie yesterday. It was Brooklyn Decker's swimsuit walk that triggered the memory what the movie was about. In fact, I didn't even know the name until I got there. I was disappointed that Rob Schneider didn't make a guest appearance with "You can Do it!" I'm a big Adam Sandler fan. Movie was good and recommended. Thanks for the hub article.

Cogerson profile image

No Rob Schneider? That could mean bad news for his career if he has made Sandler mad.....I know Dan Patrick has a cameo

Cogerson profile image

Cogerson Hub Author 12 months ago

Thank you Fluffy77....this hub needs a serious facelift....I did it as a Just Go With It hub....but ended up making it a Adam Sandler hub.....Sandler is probably one of the least likely movie stars to ever appear in movies.....but he makes some very funny movies.....but I will say I like his movies when he limits the poop jokes and limits Rob Schneider's part...thanks for reading the hub.

ruffridyer Level 4 Commenter 11 months ago

I hated Billy Madison. I never figured out if billy was suppost to be retarded, drunk, drugged up or just stupid. It was so bad it made pauly shore look like sir laurence oliver.

Then adams next movie was better. Happy Gilmore. Not really a golf fan and he still was kinda dumb and swore too much but a better movie.

Then Wedding singer, I thought it was fabulous. A movie with heart, Then out of nowhere, Little Nicky!

Where did that peice of, er drival come from?

As an actor he's been hit and miss every since.

Cogerson profile image

Cogerson Hub Author 11 months ago

You are 100% correct about Sandler's up and down career ruffridyer... the fact that he survived the double crash of Eight Crazy Nights and Little Nicky shows how big he is....I think you can easily say if the movie is a comedy...you are looking at 100 million dollar comedy....if it is drama ...you are looking at a 30-40 million dollar gross.....I think his drama movies might be beter than his comedies...but his fans will not support them.....they would rather pay to see the horrible...You Don't Mess With Zohan....as always thanks for your awesome comments.

I can't stand Adam Sandler. I just have a negative reaction every time I see him. I've only seen him in a 4 movies I could tolerate: Spanglish, Bedtime Stories, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, and 50 First Dates, and even then, I would've been happier if someone else had had the lead (like Stanley Tucci! ;)

Cogerson profile image

Cogerson Hub Author 8 months ago

Hey justmesuzanne you are not alone in your dislike of Sandler. My wife refuses to watch anything with him in it....my older boys(23,19) think he is Sir Laurence Olivier. Personally I think he is ok, especially when he stays away from toilet humor. I thought Click Me, 50 First Dates, and Funny People were pretty decent movies...thanks for stopping by.

Thumbs up for the Wedding Singer due to Drew Barrymore. That's it for Adam and I. My kids think he's funny but then again they also think The Office and The Community TV shows are funny and they think I'm not. Says a lot for their taste. Well done with the hub cogerson!!!

Cogerson profile image

Cogerson Hub Author 7 months ago

Hey Sunshine....well Mr. Sandler is an acquired test....I find some of his movies entertaining....but I find many of them unbearable...and very hard to finish...Little Nicky, Eight Crazy Nights and Don't Mess With Zohan....jump to my mind immediately. But you have to acknowledge the man is money in the bank when it comes to box office success.

Cogerson profile image

Cogerson Hub Author 6 months ago

Hey Bry....I think Jack and Jill will have a short run at the box office. I do not know if you realize this but some of the young kids that liked his first movies like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore...have actually grown up and now have kids of their own....lol. I just watched Just Go With It....so I have actually seen all of Sandler's movies except for Jack and Jill....and of that 24 movies that I have seen....I like Funny People the best....even if it is a little depressing.

BryRog57 profile image

BryRog57 Level 1 Commenter 6 months ago

Well, Funny People = Not that funny. And yes I realize that some kids who like his first movies have kids now, and made the parents of those kids, GRANDPARENTS.

Cogerson profile image

Cogerson Hub Author 6 months ago

Hey BryRog57....well just because Funny People is not a normal Sandler comedy...it is still a good film. I wonder if you will be making Natalie watch Happy Gilmore and Waterboy when she is older...or have you already started the Sandler education already?

BryRog57 profile image

BryRog57 Level 1 Commenter 6 months ago

I am not saying that Funny People was not a good film, I am just saying it wasnt that funny, so they probably shouldnt have called it Funny People, because they were not funny people. Although a few scenes were pretty funny, overall though not high on my list. I am getting her going on Sandler even though it is movies like Bedtime Stories. I am slowly molding her into a well rounded movie gower, we watched Terminator 2 just the other day. When she is old enogh to comprehend who Kyle Reese and his importance I will sit her down to watch the first one.

Cogerson profile image

Cogerson Hub Author 6 months ago

I understand BryRog57....Funny People is not his funniest movie by far....but I think it is his best movie and possible as close to the real Sandler as any other role he has done so far. Wow Natalie got to watch T2...that is awesome...I hope you covered her eyes on some of the more bloody scenes....thanks for stopping by again...as for my forecast...I am now thinking Jack and Jill will finish 3rd in its opening weekend as Immortals is opening huge this weekend.

Hey Alladream74...the power of the Sandman....it seems critics really dislike this movie and audience reaction is very weak as well...but it is already closing in on the 30 million dollar mark....still trying to figure out why Al Pacino took the part in this movie....I will be waiting for DVD to watch Jack and Jill....it is the only Adam Sandler movie that I have not seen.

Hey Made...thanks for checking out my Sandler hub. His movies might not be thought too highly by critics...but you have to give the man credit when it comes to this box office muscle. Not many people can open a movie with almost a guarantee of 100 million.
